Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Agrees on Union Contract
After over two years of negotiations between Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the union representing its employees, 1199 SEIU, a contract for years 2022 – 2025 was agreed upon between both parties on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. The contract will go to a vote for all Union Employees on Friday, May 20, 2022. If the contract passes, Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will be offering its employees some of the highest clinical hiring rates in the region, along with other appealing benefits to employees.
Starting rates for clinical positions without fringe benefits would be:
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): $26.40
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): $36.00
• Registered Nurse (RN): $36.60
Dietary staff will see starting rates of $20.40 without fringe benefits, along with $25.20 for Cooks.
This contract will also allow other staffing positions, such as Housekeeping, Maintenance, Recreation, and Dietary Staff to become CNA certified, raising their hourly rates, while also giving their position the flexibility to fill-in as a CNA when needed.
Should this contract be passed by 1199 SEIU Union Employees, Management at Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are hopeful that the generous new hiring rates will help attract new staff and reducing staffing shortages at the facility and continue to improve the overall quality of care for our residents.
